Choir rehearsal every Wednesday Morning at 7:29am.  Attendance is taken.  Please send notes with your students if they are unable to attend.  Any student missing more than 3 morning rehearsals could be removed from the concert choir.

All West Honor Choir–Students have received music and practice CDs for the audition.  The audition is very competitive.  Please check with your students to ensure they truly are committed to this audition.  It takes some practice every day.  I have posted a calendar outside of my classroom door for students to sign up with individual/small group practice time with me.  ALL STUDENTS AUDITIONING FOR THE HONOR CHOIR MUST MEET WITH ME AT LEAST TWICE OUTSIDE OF CLASS.  The audition is Oct. 27th and we will need parent help at the audition site.  Please check your calendars.

Addition to the calendar–We have added a concert to the calendar.  It will be Oct. 23 (Monday Night) for the PTA meeting.  Please plan on attending.  It will be a great first concert for us!

Uniforms–The deadline for ordering choir uniforms is Oct. 1st.  All money needs to be collected by then.  That is the last date we can order the uniforms to receive them before our Holiday Concert in December.  The girls fee is $135 and the boys fee is $100.  Both fees include shoes.  I have measured every student enrolled in choir class.  Any band students who are not in the choir class will need to see me.  There are still used uniforms for sale.  Please secure your used uniform as soon as possible.  After Oct. 1 I will not have these uniforms posted any more.

WATER–As Fall begins, our students begin having problems singing.  This is due to the weather change, outside environment, the classroom temperature, etc.  A parent has donated a refrigerator for the choir room.  Please bring a case of bottled water for students to drink during choir.  It definitely helps their singing voice.

PARENT MEETING–Our 2nd choir/band parent meeting will be this Monday, September 24 at 6pm in the Band Room.  Please plan on attending.  You may bring your cases of water to that meeting.  Hope to see you all there.

I still do not have my laptop back from the Board.  I will try to find another way to do the emails.  However, I cannot update PowerSchool.  Please email me if you are concerned about your child’s grade.  I have not been able to update grades for 2 weeks.  I will let you know when something changes.

All Southwest Choir Info Sheet

Wow!  What a busy week we’ve all had!  It was so great to meet everyone during the booster meeting and curriculum night.  We have a great group of parents this year and I look forward to working with each of you!  I just wanted keep you posted on a couple of things happening with the GMS Choir.

THIS WEDNESDAY (9-5-07) at 7:29am we will have a meeting about All-West TN Honor Choir.  If your child is interested, please bring them a few minutes early to pick up the information packet and music.  This is a great opportunity for our students.  We’ve all talked about it in class.  Please encourage your child to audition.  There is no extra money involved.  Entry fees were included in your choir fee.  Check the calendar for dates pertaining to this event.

NEXT WEDNESDAY (9-12-07) at 7:29am we will have our first early morning choir rehearsal.  Please make every effort to have your child there on time.  If your child is unable to be there, please send a note or email prior to Wednesday.  Attendance is taken.  These rehearsals are vital to our success, as this is the only time we can all rehearse together.

MONDAY (9-10-07) CHOIR FEES ARE DUE!  If fees are not paid by that date or if arrangements have not been made with our booster club treasurer, your child will be subject to being removed from choir.

This is a great way to earn a $100 credit towards your child’s Six Flags Trip, which is estimated to cost between $300-400 this year.  If you have questions feel free to contact me as well.

I will be sending your account packets home with your child if you filled out an application.  In order for your child to receive credit, he/she must bring the signed signature form back to me.  If you feel uncomfortable with your child bringing this information back to me, please mail or take it to the Suntrust on Knight Arnold.  This is the only way we can ensure that your child receives the $100 credit.

We’ve had almost 30 students to receive the $100 credit so far!  HOW AWESOME!!!!

There’s just too much stuff on the other blog.  So, I’ve set up this blog specifically for choir business.  Lesson plans will continue to be on the other blog (jward1.edublogs.org).  There will be no lesson plans on here.  Just important announcements and news.  I’ll begin uploading all forms, handouts, etc. on here this weekend.  As always, email or call if you have any questions or concerns.  We’re having a great beginning to the school year.  Let’s just keep pushing so we can end this school year even better in May!
